When it comes to a healthy body, it applies to both men and women. There are many types of health magazines available in the bookstores, newspaper stand, clinics or hospitals. Some magazines encourage the lazy people, while some are written to guide and boost the fitness freaks, as well as men who like to delve in the world of exercise and a healthy diet.

On the whole, these health magazines are beneficial for men to watch their diets and also their waistlines. In order to be a fitness freak and achieve the process, men need to follow a regime of exercise and a good diet. Health magazines also give them good advice in building muscles, and in increasing their protein intake.

Various other ideas on what type of food to eat, liquids to intake, and exercises to perform, is all covered in these health magazines. It tells in detail about exercise, and its benefits. In case you opt to exercise at home, then it will guide you as to how to go about it. It shows and explains different kinds of workouts that can be exercised at home, step by step. They make it sound interesting and exciting. Accompanied by a whole lot of illustrations of men with muscles, which is very motivating in a way.

There will be a lot of advertisements by companies who manufacture muscle building machines, exercise equipments, pricing, shipping/transport charges and discounts if any. If you have a friend who is a health freak, why don't you subscribe to 2 or 3 health magazines, as a gift for him. It would please him pink and encourage him to exercise. They would give him so much information in an easy and concise way and not lengthy like a novel. Men are short of patience, so gifting them a health magazine instead of a novel is a great idea.

It also throws a lot of light on health issues, which men discuss and deal with, like colon or prostate cancer. Citing the symptoms, treatment, cures and also list of doctors or clinics that they can get in touch with, will help them identify and deal with issues that men are usually not comfortable talking about and giving them ample solutions and showing them the path to recovery.

Men who have lost their confidence, can regain the same. They feel better about their bodies and this brings about a change in their attitude. They soon realize that people around are actually noticing them. Good health, leads to a good life, but takes a lot of hard work. Sow that you may reap the benefits of being a fitness freak. Your curiosity for more sustained health should not be with just one health magazine but with many. And it could open up a whole new world of fitness for you.

Diet And Exercise Tips for Getting Six Pack Abs

Getting six pack abs is all about what you eat. No matter how hard you workout, or how many ab crunches you do in the gym, how on earth do you think you can look at your six pack abs in the mirror if there is a thick layer of fat covering those strong abdominals?

This question should spread like a virus in to the minds of people who work on the cardio machine like it is the only to way to get six pack abs, and also in to the minds of people who eat nothing but air all day hoping that the abs will magically get flat and strong.

How long do you have the patience to do all these things and then realize that you are doing everything wrong? Getting six pack abs is about being smart. You have a brain! USE IT!

I am going to show you some simple diet and exercise tips that will help you get on track and actually help you in getting six pack abs super fast.

# Focus on building muscle

If you are going to the gym, have you noticed that the fat people consistently stick to the cardio machines while the physically fit stick to the free weights?

Doesn't this simple logic hit your head? It's simple to understand that the more muscle you have, the more energy your body requires to maintain that muscle mass. How does your body get this energy? CALORIES!

So what does this mean? Your body burns more calories for energy to maintain that muscle mass. Do you get my point here? I hope you do.

# Eat 5 meals a day!

You need to eat every 2.5 to 3.5 hours or your body triggers starvation mode, which means, your metabolic rate will slow down and your body will start storing fat instead of burning them for energy. In order to avoid this, you need to divide your meals so that you can avoid starvation at all costs.

# Eat protein and fiber in every meal!

In order to get the most out of your meals, you need to eat more fiber rich carbohydrates like Oats, Fruits and Vegetables.

You also need to eat protein in every meal because protein has the highest thermic effect of all foods. The body burns more calories to actually digest the protein, and it also helps maintain muscle in your body.

# Eat healthy fats That's right! In order to get six pack abs in the fastest time possible, you actually need to healthy fats like Omega 3 fatty acids, Olive Oil and nuts like Almonds.

# Avoid Processed Foods at all Costs!

I have explained to you some of the most important changes you need to make in order to start seeing results within two weeks! If you follow these tips, you will be way on your way to burn fat, build lean muscle and get rock hard six pack abs in the fastest time you could possibly imagine!

Anti-Aging Eating

In this day and age, people are living longer and longer, which is fantastic news for us all! Human advances in medicine and other pertinent areas have extended the average lifespan for humans to 77.2 years!

A longer lifespan is great news for us all, yet as we get older, it's typical to experience a variety of aged-related problems. While living longer is our goal, I think we all agree we can do without the physical aging part. What can be done to combat the aging process?

Recently, scientists have identified some key nutrients in food that can help with anti-aging.

Heart disease, memory loss, and wrinkles, to name a few, are all aging symptoms we will all experience sooner or later due to free radicals.

Free radicals are harmful oxygen molecules that damage our cells leading to several age-related problems. But how can we combat these free radicals? By eating citrus fruits! Their abundant source of vitamin C helps prevent wrinkles, protects our arteries, and reduces our risk of heart disease and stroke.

What foods are best for anti-aging?

Spinach and Grapefruit.

Spinach is rich with carotenoids, which help to protect the eye from macular degeneration (a leading cause of blindness in the elderly).

Grapefruit is full of glutathione, which helps to lower blood pressure and cholesterol.

Tomatoes and Watermelon.

Tomatoes and watermelon both contain lycopene, a powerful antioxidant. They are so powerful; they can even help to prevent the growth of tumors!

Other Important Nutrients

As we age, our appetite naturally slows down and our body absorbs fewer nutrients, as it once was able to do. Couple that with the fact that many of us simply do not eat the right amount of fruits and vegetables, legumes, and whole grains, and we have a diet that is lacking. To make sure you get in the right amount of nutrients everyday, include the following in your diet to insure that you are giving your body what it needs.

Beta-Carotene: This can be found in carrots, yellow squash, and bright colored vegetables. This antioxidant helps prevent wrinkles, dry skin, cataracts, heart disease, and cancer. One sweet potato gives your body about 15 mg. of beta-carotene: the amount doctors recommend we take in each day.

Vitamin E: Nuts, wheat germ, and cooking oil. Consuming the right amount of vitamin E can cut the risk of heart disease in half. All you need is just 2 tsp. of sunflower seeds a day to get in half of this important nutrient.

Zinc and Calcium: These are the two most important minerals in your diet! Calcium can be found in dairy foods, and green, leafy vegetables. Calcium is crucial for preventing osteoporosis! Zinc can be found in meats and shellfish, which help to keep the immune system strong.

B Vitamins: B vitamins help to maintain our energy and keep our nerves and brain healthy. You can find B vitamins in leafy greens, potatoes, bananas, meats, and legumes.

Our nutritional needs change as we age, so make sure your diet changes along with what your body needs. Paying just a little more attention will help you life a longer life of health and vitality!

Identify Your Healthy Weight

If I told you someone was thin, would you automatically assume they were healthy? For the vast majority of us, we assume that thin = healthy: a rather inaccurate and potentially dangerous assumption.

It's rather sad to witness so many young women and even men strive to be way too thin thinking this is the current standard of beauty. This common misconception is dangerous and can lead to serious illness and even death.

It is possible to be too thin. The problem is that in this day and age with the bombardment of unusually thin models and media subliminally telling us that "thin is in, we are fed a false impression of what real beauty is. Being too thin is dangerous.

And being overweight is dangerous, too. Carrying around extra weight, just like not having enough weight, can cause a host of medical issues that can eventually lead to death.

So the question is: What is an ideal, healthy weight?

What is a healthy weight for you is not necessarily a healthy weight for someone else. It is important not to compare yourself to anyone else, but to find your own healthy weight.

How can I find my healthy weight?

Of course, a visit to your doctor can answer this question. Your doctor can measure your fat to muscle ratio and give you an idea of how much you should lose, gain, or if you are at a healthy weight.

Another option? Check the Body Mass Index, or BMI. The BMI is a measurement that figures in both your height and weight. While it is not a perfect measure since it can't tell you how much fat and how much muscle you have, it can give you a good idea of whether or not you should gain or lose some weight.

A BMI or 18.5 to 24.9 is considered healthy. Anything above and below that range is not healthy. A score over 30 indicates obesity, unless you are a muscular athlete, pregnant, or if you are over the age of 65. Body Mass Index's are easy to find and use online, so check out your score!

What if I'm not happy with my "healthy weight"?

As mentioned earlier, we live in a culture that worships beauty. The celebrity culture is a great example. Have you noticed how thin some of these celebrities have become? If you ask me, many of them look too thin to the point of sickly. But still, for some reason, extreme thinness is desired while it should be avoided.

Whether your healthy weight seems to you to be too thin or too heavy, I suggest first visiting your doctor to ensure that where you are at is safe.

If you truly are at a healthy weight, it may be time to look at your body in a more positive and respectful light. Speak and think of your body is positive ways. Enjoy the compliments you receive. Seek support from your loved ones. Become active and enjoy your body.

By changing your mindset, you will see that your body is just perfect!

A Funny But Inspiring Story About Fitness

Anyone who has ever worked with me personally or in my group training knows I am about accountability. So one of the things I am having my clients do this month is to make a huge effort to make fitness a priority. To do this, I am asking all of them to put their workouts down as an appointment in their calendar.

Why would I ask them to do this?

Simple. I deal with powerful and busy people. And they are constantly being pulled in different 20 directions.

-Board meetings

-Carpool

-After school activities

-Family obligations

-Business trips, etc.

What often gets left off? Exercise.

If you schedule exercise into your week at the beginning of each month, you will see that you are less likely to miss your training.

Think I am nuts? Let me give you an example.

I have one client that changes the way she fills in her Blackberry calendar. Instead of "exercise" or "training", she writes "MENTAL HEALTH THERAPY".

In this woman's world if she does not get her workout in she feels sluggish, out of sorts, and is normally cranky (her words) if she misses a workout.

She tells the story of how someone was looking over her shoulder one day. The nosy mom said "Why don't we schedule a breakfast meeting for our book club?"

My client said, "Sure when would you like to meet?" As the busybody woman looked at my client's Blackberry calendar, she was shocked to see that this woman needed therapy 5 days a week. She must have thought she was truly out of her mind and clearly stayed away from scheduling the meeting anywhere around the appointment.

This worked wonders in two ways: 1) She was able to get her workout in and 2) Now she even had time to get cleaned up after her training. Nice!

I have had other clients use similar tactics when scheduling their workouts:

Cardiologist - This reminds him that he has heart issues and if he misses his appointment, he will spend his time in a waiting room instead of a weight room.

Blind Date - One of my clients was a young single woman who had just lost 70 lbs. She used this as a motivator to keep her from putting the weight back on so that she would never need to go on another blind date again.

Plastic Surgeon - This was another client's way of saying she always wanted to look vibrant. She was deathly afraid of needles and never wanted to go under the knife for surgery. A little vain, but it works for her!

Accountant - Some people consider me an accountant. I keep them accountable and it is easy to say I need to meet with my accountant and people would never think of making you miss an appointment with the tax man.

For now, get your calendar or planner and schedule in your workouts for this month. AND don't miss any of them. I promise you won't regret it at the end of the month.

How To Keep Fit And Stay Looking Young

One of the signs of aging is wrinkling. Another sign is arrival of those brown spots on the skin, what Grandma called "liver spots." Skin dries out, thins and becomes less elastic and resilient. While no one has discovered a miracle anti-aging cure yet or the fountain of youth, doctors and scientists have discovered some ways to delay the onset of some of the symptoms of aging.

Wrinkles are caused by the loss of collagen in the middle layer of skin called the dermis. This layer is made up of collagen and elastin fibers. These proteins are what support the skin and make it resilient.

Other components of this layer are capillaries, lymph nodes, hair follicles, nerve and muscle cells, seat glands and, most importantly for this discussion, sebaceous glands. These sebaceous glands produce an oily protective substance that that lubricates and waterproofs the skin and hair. As they get older, they produce less and less of this lubricant, the skin dries out and wrinkling occurs. Another symptom is the loss of collagen that causes the droopiness and tired-look that comes with old age.

Regular exercise nourishes all three layers of the skin. It improves circulation, providing the skin with oxygen, fresh blood and nutrients. This increased blood flow also draws toxins out of the body and improve the condition of every organ, not just the skin. The increased blood flow created by exercise helps promote the growth of collagen that, in turn, plumps up the facial skin eradicating wrinkles and adding vibrancy to the skin. Sweating, a byproduct of exercise, improves the health of the skin by flushing out toxins, which also adds to a youthful glow.

Exercise has been proven to relieve stress. Stress is tied in very closely to the aging process and wrinkles. Prolonged stress increases levels of free radicals, speeds up the breakdown of proteins, can suppress the immune system and generally accelerates the process of aging.

Of course, it is important to exercise properly and keep hydrated while doing it. Moisturizing inside and out makes good sense.

No smoking. Not only does smoking constrict the blood vessels in the dermis that reduces the flow of nutrients and oxygen to the skin. The facial expressions caused by smoking also accelerate wrinkling. Pursing the lips, squinting to keep smoke out of the eyes and the sucking in of the smoke all put repetitive stress on the muscles of the face.

Simple Tips To Help You Lose And Maintain Your Weight

Losing weight is not just about cutting calories and exercising like crazy. Losing weight requires a permanent lifestyle change. It is not realistic to think that while you are dieting, you eat exactly what you should and exercise 5 days a week, then after reaching your goal completely turn your back on what got you to your goal in the first place.

Establishing a healthy view on your lifestyle and making permanent changes will set you up for success for a lifetime!

Looking back at my own weight loss, certain things I did really helped me to meet my goals. Below, I have listed the techniques that helped me in the past to lose weight and maintain it successfully. Let's take a look at them and see if any of them can help you on your own road to health and fitness.

1. Start with a food diary. Record what you eat, what you are doing while you eat, and how you felt when you ate it. Get a solid understanding of your eating habits and what triggers your eating.

2. Set attainable goals. Do not expect yourself to lose 50 pounds in a month. This is not healthy, or possible! Make them clear, concise, and reachable.

3. When hunger hits, wait 10 minutes before eating. Cravings do tend to pass, so give it some time and see if this one will, too.

4. Get enough sleep. When we are tired, our defenses are down. This makes it easier to grab a couple cookies or throw caution to the wind. Get the quality sleep that you need.

5. Avoid sugar. The more you eat, the more you crave. It is that simple.

6. Drink 6-8 glasses of water each day. Water helps to cut down on water retention and, if taken before meals, dulls the appetite and makes you feel full.

7. Do not shop when you are hungry. This is a deadly time to shop, and when impulse buys are at their peak!

8. Keep plenty of crunchy, healthy foods around. Raw veggies, almonds, or fat-free popcorn can really help in a pinch where you must eat something!

9. Lose the weight for yourself. Do it for your health and for your satisfaction. If you do it for someone else, chances are you will fail.

10. Make the kitchen off-limits in between meals. This will help cut down on "grazing".

11. Focus on what you are eating. Enjoy each bite and experience your food. This helps to focus your brain on the fact that you are eating, which will help you to avoid eating too much.

12. Substitute an activity for eating. Call a friend, read a book, take a walk. Anything but eating when you should not!

13. NEVER skip meals. When you skip meals, your metabolism slows down. The next time you eat, chances are that you will eat too much and binge.

14. Exercise. There's just no way around it! Try to get in at least four days of cardio and strength training.

I hope you found these tips as helpful. Remember that weight loss and healthy living is not something you do temporarily. It truly is a decision you make to carry on for the rest of your life!

Chronic Tendonitis - What's New In Treatment?

So, you've been diagnosed with tendonitis and you've gone through the usual types of treatment programs like physical therapy, anti-inflammatory drugs, and even cortisone shots.

What else is available?

Before we discuss the exciting new ways of managing chronic tendonitis, let's talk about what tendonitis is... and what it isn't.

Tendons are thick cords of fibrous tissue that connect muscles to bones. It is this connection that allows joint motion. When muscles contract, they pull on the tendons which cause the bones to move.

In order for tendons to glide they move inside a lubricated sheath of tissue that is lined with synovial tissue. This synovial tissue is the same type of tissue that lines the inside of joints. Tendonitis occurs when the sheath through which a tendon glides becomes inflamed. This leads to severe pain. The pain usually gets worse with use of the affected joint. However, when tendonitis becomes severe, there may be pain at rest, particularly at night.

Since muscles and tendons surround most joints, tendonitis is rather common. The diagnosis of tendonitis is relatively simple for the experienced clinician. Generally, the diagnosis is made by history and physical examination. In difficult diagnostic cases, diagnostic ultrasound or magnetic resonance imaging is helpful in confirming the diagnosis.

Some of the more common types of tendonitis are:

Shoulder tendonitis. The tendons in the shoulder that are most often affected are the rotator cuff and biceps tendons.

The rotator cuff consists of four tendons that sit on top of the upper arm bone. They are the supraspinatus, infraspinatus, subscapularis, and teres minor tendons. The location of these tendons and the muscles they attach to are what give the shoulder such a great range of motion.

Rotator cuff tendonitis may occur as a result of repetitive activity or tendon degeneration. Pain is felt with most movements and is usually located on the outside part of the shoulder. Certain movements such as reaching behind or to the side may be uncomfortable.

The biceps tendon permits the arm to be flexed at the elbow. Biceps tendonitis also occurs due to repetitive activity and pain is felt in the front of the shoulder.

Shoulder tendonitis can sometimes be treated successfully with anti-inflammatory medication, physical therapy, and occasionally glucocorticoid (cortisone) injection. These methods are most useful for acute tendonitis.

Tendonitis in the elbow is usually located either on the outside and is called lateral epicondylitis or tennis elbow. It may also occur along the inside part of the elbow- medial epicondylitis. This is called golfer's elbow.

Treatment for this condition consists of physical therapy, stretching and strengthening exercises, splints, and injections. While surgery is sometimes recommended for chronic case, I will discuss why that is inadvisable.

Tendonitis in the wrist arises because of repetitive motion. A peculiar form of tendonitis, called Dequervain's tendonitis, is felt on the outside of the thumb.

Tendonitis in this area is managed with glucorticoid injections and immobilization with a splint. Physical therapy modalities may be helpful. Rarely, if ever, is surgery required. Tendonitis in the fingers can lead to catching of the fingers. This is termed "trigger finger." Trigger finger usually responds to injection.

Tendonitis in the knee may affect the patellar tendon. This is the tendon that connects the knee cap to the tibia (lower leg bone). Patellar tendonitis usually occurs because of excessive jumping and is actually called "jumpers knee." This is treated with rest, anti-inflammatory medications, and physical therapy.

Tendonitis in the ankle can occur along the outside of the ankle (peroneal tendonitis), the inside of the ankle (posterior tibial tendonitis), or at the back of the ankle (Achilles tendonitis). The tendonitis that occurs along the outside or inside of the ankle can occur because of trauma or because of mechanical instability. Another potential cause is an underlying arthritis condition.

Achilles tendonitis often occurs as a result of excessive stress and loading of the tendon as well as repetitive motion. The Achilles tendon is the thick cord at the back of the ankle that connects the heel bone to the calf muscle. Treatment involves rest, elevation of the heel to take the tension off the Achilles tendon, and physical therapy. Glucocorticoid injection should be avoided because of the danger of Achilles tendon rupture. Anti-inflammatory medication may be helpful.

So what can be done to treat chronic tendonitis? What can you do if you've tried all of the above treatments and still have a problem?

The first new approach, particularly with tendons that are balky is to use hydrodissection. This is a form of treatment where a small gauge needle is introduced into the tendon sheath and a large volume of saline, glucocorticoid, and lidocaine are used to dissect the sheath away from the tendon. Often chronic inflammation causes the sheath and tendon to stick together and this can cause pain as well as loss of function. This type of therapy is particularly effective for the small tendons in the hand.

Another new form of therapy called tenotomy is now being used. This almost always negates the need for an open surgical procedure. With tenotomy, a small gauge needle is introduced with local anesthetic and used to "irritate" the insertion of the tendon where the site of inflammation is located. The needle is inserted using direct ultrasound visualization. After the needling, injection of a small amount of platelet rich plasma (PRP) is performed at the site of needling, again using direct ultrasound visualization. PRP is rich in growth factors that stimulate healing. The process of healing takes only a few days to weeks as opposed to the several weeks to months that an open surgical procedure takes.

Tenotomy can be performed at almost any site where there is chronic tendon inflammation. Results are usually excellent.

Both of these procedures are excellent for the aging athlete who wants to keep going.

Special Diet For Autism

According to experts autism can be linked with different types of food allergies & sensitivities.

Experts provide adept treatment for autism via prescribing special diet to the child. Three most popular diet & vitamin interventions for autism include the following:

* The casein & gluten free diet * Vitamin B-12, A, D and C supplements. * Cod liver oil.

The real cause of autism is unknown. Hence, any treatment linked to diet for autism should be confirmed with a professional first.

a) The Casein & Gluten - Free Diet

Casein & Gluten are commonly found in dairy, barley, oat, rye & wheat products. Experts suggest this diet because autistic people are unable to digest these proteins. When taken, these proteins hang around in the body just to activate neurotransmitter receptors inside the brain just as opiate drugs would do. Elimination of foods containing casein & gluten from diet will definitely reduce the cause of autism. However, such a diet is very restrictive & extremely challenging to follow. One is not allowed to eat bread or dairy products.

b) Vitamins & Supplements

Autism can also be treated via providing vitamins & supplements. Vitamins B complex is the most commonly used vitamin as it helps central nervous system to create enzymes & assists in functioning. The vitamin also works towards maintaining the nervous system. This vitamin has also proved to improve eye contact, behavior & attention for some people with autism. Vitamin C is also related to brain functioning. Certain reports have found that vitamin C supplements improve autism symptoms. Children taking vitamin C supplements are known to experience improvement in behavior, communication attempts & eye contact.

c) Cod liver oil

These contain high levels of vitamins A and D. These vitamins are known to improve eye contact and behavior in certain autistic cases. Fish oils have also been connected to improve brain functioning.

There are other autism diet recommendation where cutting down on yeast & sugars is suggested. One is asked to consume a good number of fresh fruits & vegetables.

Diet rich in amino acids, calcium, magnesium & zinc are also prescribed to the child. Most of these supplements are available in chewable form with a high dose of sugar. Experts also suggest enzymes supplements to help overcoming symptoms of autism.

Berries are supposed to be extremely nutritious & rich in antioxidants. You can give your child a high dose of blueberries, raspberries & strawberries. Try to include more servings of vegetables in their diet. Go or vegetables such as sweet red pepper, carrot & broccoli. You need to understand that kids are kids & they have their individual task irrespective of whether they have autism or not.

You should keep in mind their love for specific food type & try not to be too strict with them.

It is important to fix up a diet for your child with autism. However, it is important to contact a health care professional prior to going for any sort of dietary change. This will give you an idea of what's good for your child & what's not.

Don't shirk away from asking a lot of questions to your doctor. Try to monitor your child's progress on a regular basis.

Handle your child with lot of love, care, presence & appreciation.

Stair Lift Installation

A stair lift is a device that is used to lift a person up the stairs, much like an escalator. These devices generally use a rail or track system that is attached to the stairs and spans the complete distance of the stairs. A chair or small platform is attached to the track and is sent up and down the track. These devices are very safe and reliable, but there are some safety concerns that should be addressed both when using these devices and when installing them.

It is imperative that you both read and understand the manufacturer's installation instructions before you begin your initial setup. On standard non-winding stairs the installation can usually be done in a few hours by a single individual, but before you do anything carefully read the instructions. One of the most important steps will be securing the track to the stairs. Follow the manufacturer's instructions and use the included hardware to secure the track to the stairs. Usually the track comes in sections that are made to slide together and are secured with bolts.

Most of the actual installation can be done with standard household tools. Usually a set of Allen wrenches (often included), a set of Phillips heads screwdrivers, a 3/8 inch socket set, a power drill, a tape measure, and a level will be all that is required to set up the stair lift. Some models do require a tool called a torque wrench, which may sound complicated or foreign, but it really isn't. A torque wrench is a wrench that has a gauge or dial attached to it that lets you tighten a bolt to a specific tension. All you need to do is very lightly tighten the bolt while keeping an eye on the gauge that is attached to the wrench. If you are tightening the bolt to 18 ft/lbs then just apply constant pressure until the gauge reads about 18. Torque wrenches can be found at most hardware stores as well as at auto parts stores.

Once the track is down it will be time to put the chair onto the track. Usually the chair is attached to a short piece of track that is only a foot or two in length. This short piece of track is temporarily attached to the track at the top of the stairs. A bolt holds the chair in place on this temporary track. Once the bolt is removed the chair will slide down onto the actual stair lift track. It is important that either you or your assistant apply pressure to the chair when you remove the retaining bolt. Once the bolt is removed the chair will slide freely so make sure you hold the chair in place until your hands are out of the way, then let is slowly slide down onto the track.

A stair lift that has been installed properly will provide many years of dependable and safe service. It can generally be done by one person. If after reading the installation instructions you are hesitant at all about the set up, call up your distributor and they can either help you with the instructions or recommend a company that will install it for you at a good rate.

Recommended Treadmills - How To Find The Best Recommended Treadmills

Looking for the best recommended treadmill? Unfortunately there are now so many treadmills on the market these days it can get confusing trying to sort through them all.

Experts like Consumer Reports, Prevention Magazine, Runner's World and others recommend treadmills yearly that they think offer the best in value. There are also other reviews and ratings resources as well.

This article will tell you which treadmill ratings to look at when buying, how they work and what you should know about each of them.

There are are 2 different types of treadmill reviews - consumer and expert ratings.

1) Consumer treadmill reviews are written by someone who has purchased the treadmill and then written a review of the treadmill online. Several sites offer these types of consumer reviews including epinions and amazon.

These can be helpful in giving you an overall picture of a specific treadmill - especially if there are many reviews.

The disadvantage of these reviews is that - because people are more likely to leave a negative review than a positive one - the numbers are often biased to give you a falsely negative impression of that particular model.

For example, if you read 3 negative reviews of model A then you're likely to think model A is a poor machine. However, it's very possible that there are 3000 other very happy model A buyers that have just not left reviews - that's a 0.1% dissatisfaction rate, which is actually quite good.

Also consumer ratings can also be easily rigged. Because rating sites let basically anyone post a review, this leaves the door wide open for 'false' reviews, whether left by the competition (a negative review) or even someone working for the treadmill company (a positive review).

All of this doesn't mean that consumer reviews are bad - they just don't always give a fair picture of the treadmill (especially if there are only a few reviews). For the best recommended consumer treadmill, look for a treadmill that has lots of reviews which sound like a normal person has written them.

2) Expert Treadmill Recommendations are written by people behind resources like Consumer Reports, Prevention Magazine, Runners World etc.

These tend to be more reliable however again keep in mind that every one of these reviewers weigh treadmill features differently. So for example, one expert may think that a long warranty is more important that the number of workout programs. This results in different treadmills taking the prize for "Best Recommended Buy".

If you hunt around, you can usually find which features these experts were looking at and how they scored each feature. This will give you a better idea as to if these treadmills are the best choice for you.

While consumer and expert reviews can help you find the best treadmill, the last thing to ask yourself is if this treadmill is the best choice for you. For example, you may be taller or prefer to run, so you'll want to look for a longer (58" or more) treadbelt.

You may not be planning to use your treadmill very much - only for light walking when the weather is poor. In this case, you can save a bit and maybe go with a lesser priced model than a runner would need.

Bottom line? If you've done the research, you're the expert on which treadmill is best for you. Take your time, enjoy the search and have fun with your new treadmill!
